2 Corinthians 2:5-11 (NIV)

Forgiveness for the Sinner
5If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent—not to put it too severely. 6The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. 7Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. 9The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. 10If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Missions

The Church has a strong commitment to live & speak the Good News of Jesus overseas. We do this through prayer, finance and personal encouragement of the cross cultural workers who we support.

The focus of the church support is:

1. Jessica Pethick who serves on the OM ship The Doulos. The Doulos travels across the world with a crew of over 300 people from 50 different nations. They focus on the selling of books to improve the educational standards of the poor, practical care to those with specific needs, sharing the Good News about Jesus through seminars, street work, drama and music and the equipping of Christian people for effective service. Jessica is a member of our church who served in the Australian Navy for 6 years and who has felt a strong call to serve on the Doulos for 2 years.

2. Anna Cheng who serves with as part of the GIA team (Australian Baptist Mission) in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and who serves by building relationships with Thai students and by lecturing in a university as a Chinese teacher. Anna came from Hong Kong to study in Melbourne during the 1990's . She came into a personal relationship with Jesus and after further study sensed a call to serve in Thailand.

3. Pondok Kasih in Indonesia. This national Christian group works with the very poor in providing care and support for the poor especially through an Orphanage, a Womens Training Centre and in a centre for the mentally ill and homeless.

4. Baptist World Aid across the World. BWA serve to alleviate poverty and promote social justice. They provide care for orphans and those who are extremely poor, they provide finance and food in times of natural disasters, they advocate for the poor through te Micah Challenge and they provide wholistic care and development for poor communities in many places.

We also believe that Short Term Mission teams from our church to nations where we support cross cultural workers are a significant way for us to grow and develop our understanding about the needs of the world and how we might be involved in working to live and speak the Good News of Jesus  ourselves.
